This village has a population of 784. Ross is located in Butler County. The village was laid out in 1841 on a turnpike. It is said to have gotten its name, Seven Mile, from the nearby Sevenmile Creek. Seven Mile became an official village in 1875. By 1905, Seven Mile was home to one mill, a meat shop, a tin shop, a harness shop, and a hotel. In 1913, during the Great Dayton Flood, Seven Mile was one of the few areas spared from serious devastation. An elevated railroad grade separating Seven Mile from the Sevenmile Creek was said to have saved them from serious flooding. Historic magazine articles from 1901 state Seven Mile celebrated a unique sort of parade at the turn of the 20th century.
